Question: What made you want to enter the field of natural resource protection?

Jennifer: I have held a passion and deep appreciation for everything our natural world has to offer for as long as I can remember and can’t imagine myself working in any other field.  I want to help protect what I love and inspire others to do the same.

Question: How did your education prepare you for that role?

Jennifer: I received a degree in Environmental Management from Indiana University.  It was the perfect blend of environmental science as well as policy and law and helped me to understand how science should influence business and governmental policy.  My professors there inspired me to follow my passions and curiosities and become a problem solver.

Question: Before coming to FOR what other roles have you played in environmental protection?

Jennifer: I’ve worked for the US Forest Service, Virginia DEQ, and a government contractor in my environmental protection career.  I’m excited to apply everything I’ve learned throughout my career to serve the Rappahannock River.

Question: What do you do for fun?

Jennifer: I love spending time in nature with my family, whether it’s hiking, kayaking or just playing games in our yard.  I like to play farmer at home and love cooking.
